Totally Unauthorized

A side of the film industry most people never see.

Friday Photo

Mirror, mirror

A portable makeup table for on-set touch-ups.

Today, I had a lot of time to take photos, since most of our day was spent trying desperately to get footage of a happy baby.

Of course, the baby we were using spent most of the day screaming until her face took on a blue tinge.

She was fine when she wasn’t on set, but as soon as they tried to put her in front of the camera the high-pitched shrieks and tears started.

Some people just aren’t cut out for show business, I guess.

Apologies all around.

It seems that some of you got spam emails from my email address.

This was caused by a hopefully brief affair with a ‘bot due to an insufficiently confusing password.

It’s been corrected, and there shouldn’t be any more issues.

Please enjoy some photos from today’s bike ride:

I think I need a new bicycle. This one’s trying to kill me when I ride it up a hill.

Friday the 13th Photo

Century City on a foggy June morning

The last bit of our overcast cool mornings (aka “June Gloom”).

This is taken from the roof of Stage 12 at Culver Studios looking northeast towards Century City.

Also, I have discovered that my homegrown tomatoes are the key to instant popularity since this whole salmonella thing started. I brought some to work to eat with breakfast in the commissary and all of a sudden everyone loved me.

Sweeet. I should enjoy it while it lasts and carry a tomato with me whenever I leave the house for any reason.

Random midweek holiday photos

And I’m not sure which one cracks me up more – the chandeliers in boxes or the palm trees wrapped in decorative lights:

Hmmm… Chandeliers win. By a nose.

Everybody just be patient, please.

Part of the problem with taking a shitload of photos on any trip is the going through and uploading of said photos.

There’s at least 1500 of them on the data cards and I have to look through all of them, decide which ones are worth keeping (they can’t all be winners, after all) and then figure out which of the remaining photos will go on flickr.

In my current state of being jet lagged and impatient (I now remember that for me it’s always worse when I’m traveling west) I can barely tolerate this sort of thing, so while I initially thought I could get all the photos uploaded in a few days, now I’m guessing it’s going to take the better part of a week.

I was going to do a big virtual slide show (you know, the one where I put up a bunch of photos and natter endlessly about my vacation), but right now I can also barely tolerate sitting in front of the computer for any length of time.

I need a martini.

Almost-Saturday photo

Evening Drive

This is about how my entire drive home went – even though it was after 9 pm.
This is Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills, though – so it could just be Friday night traffic from all the folks going to da club (or wherever it is that ‘they’ go).

There’s holes in them thar walls!

Somewhere along the line the people who own my building decided to replace all the plumbing.

Now, I don’t inherently object to this as in some parts of the house my water pressure is non-existent, but since the plumbers are knocking holes in the walls in order to access the pipes and are making some serious noise, of course I have to work tonight and with the destruction (right now they’re jackhammering up part of the patio) happening around me, there’s absolutely no way in hell I’m going to be able to take a nap before my 6 pm call time.

Dammit.

Holes in the walls

When I told the maintenance guy about my having to work tonight, he sort of stared at me for a moment and then asked “What are you going to do if you can’t take a nap?”

I’m just going to have to suck it up and consume as much caffeine as I can without actually having a heart attack, that’s what I’m going to do.

On the bright side, if society collapses any time soon, the ability to stay awake for a really long time will definitely be a major asset in a post-apocalyptic world. Also, the plumbers (there are four of them) are all in really good shape so there’s no half-moons going on.
